How classification review works

The development prototype covers invoice intake, classification drafts, review actions, and saved runs. A licensed broker reviews the evidence and remains responsible for legal determinations.

1 · Review and select an article

Upload a supported English invoice PDF and review the extracted merchandise descriptions. The broker selects an article and confirms its wording before classification. Missing attributes, omitted lines, and recognition errors still need the broker's attention.

Source links in intake open the PDF uploaded in that session. Persistent source viewing with highlighted regions in the saved review remains in development.

2 · Inspect the classification draft

The review presents ranked HTS candidates, GRI reasoning, cited ruling records, and validation results. Citations that do not resolve in the retained CROSS data are removed; recorded revocation and modification flags remain visible for the broker.

These checks establish whether a citation resolves in the retained data. They do not establish whether its reasoning applies to the merchandise. The broker must assess the classification argument and any unresolved issues.

3 · Record the review action

The prototype can record an accept or an override against the reviewed draft. An override includes a corrected HTS code, an error type, and a root cause. The record includes the entered license ID and a timestamp.

Reviewer authentication and license verification are still in development. The entered ID is supplied by the reviewer; the prototype does not verify licensing. Legal determinations remain the responsibility of licensed customs brokers.

4 · Reopen the saved run

The workbench reconstructs recorded classification runs for review. The broker can return to the candidates, validation results, and any saved memo or review action. Missing or unreadable records require attention.

What remains in development

Full customs valuation, duty and fee calculation, filing, post-entry monitoring, and searchable firm precedents are not implemented in this prototype. Those parts of the broker's work remain outside the current demo.

The prototype is not ready for production use. Extraction errors and source-viewing gaps remain open, and representative broker-reviewed document validation is still needed.
